SOP sign-off in Confluence
Standard operating procedures live well in Confluence right up to the moment someone asks who approved the current version. The page history shows who edited it. It does not show who accepted it.
The gap between editing and approving
Page history answers "what changed and by whom". Approval answers a different question: did a named person with authority accept this specific version. Those are not the same, and an auditor will ask for the second one.
A sign-off that does not quietly go out of date
Page Sign-off ties the approval to the version number that was approved. When the SOP is revised, the sign-off changes to stale and keeps a record of the version that was signed. Nobody has to remember to clear it. The next reviewer sees immediately that the current text has not been accepted yet.
Running a review cycle
- Revise the SOP and publish it.
- Request sign-off from the process owner and, if you need two pairs of eyes, a second approver.
- Both approve, or one rejects with a reason that stays on the page.
- At audit time, open the space Sign-offs page and export the table.
